Actors all set to light up their Diwali…

MUMBAI: How Bollywood actors and actresses are going to celebrate the diwali this year.

Salman Khan
“For me, this Diwali is going to be special for a couple of reasons. Of course our film ‘Main Aur Mrs. Khanna’ is hitting the screens on Diwali, but more importantly gold and silver coins of ‘Being human’ are going to be available in stores.

The proceeds of these will go to my NGO ‘Being Human’. The causes we support are noble, and so this Diwali is going to be special for many people in turn. Diwali is about poojas, family and phuljaris. I wish everyone a safe Diwali this year.”

Shah Rukh Khan
“We celebrate Diwali like Eid. As much as we do namaz at Eid, we burst crackers in Diwali. We must respect every religion.”

Lara Dutta
Last year during Diwali, I was shooting with Chichi and Riteish for ‘Do Knot Disturb’, so we celebrated Deewali on the sets. But this year is special as my film ‘Blue’ is releasing. I am looking forward to having loads of fun. This year, I’ll be celebrating it with my sister and nephew in Mumbai.

Ranbir Kapoor
“Let me tell you that my dadi cooks the most delicious Diwali sweets, so now you know why I look forward to the festival. No crackers for me, but yes, a Pooja and lots of sweets is what Diwali is all about. It’s a family affair that becomes even more special when Riddhima comes down.”

Ameesha Patel
“I have a sweet tooth, so for me Diwali means sweet and more sweets. I’ll gorge on food this Diwali and then workout really hard. But no compromising during this Festival of Lights.”

Tusshar Kapoor
We have Taash and card parties at our place in Diwali. I have friends and family over and it’s a gala time. The women have their own group and they sit and chat around. Laxmi Puja is another big occasion and I have always enjoyed bursting crackers in the festival. It’s a time when one gets to be with family and so it’s sort of a get-together.

Esha Deol
“I don’t know how to play cards. And I’m petrified of crackers. But I love the festival – the lights and the colour it brings with it. I help around the house and love to light the diyas and indulge in flower decoration.”

Arshad Warsi
“Diwali is meant to be celebrated with the family. There is lots of post prodction work on my first home production. So while I’m busy with that, quality time with Maria and the children is a must. But no crackers, please! When there’s love, you don’t need noise!”

Ayesha Takia
Diwali for me is as big a festival as any other as I come from a mixed religious family. My mum is Anglo-Indian and dad Gujarati. It is a time to spend Diwali with family but no crackers or card-playing sessions for me. This year, I’m hoping for an intimate celebration, especially since it’s my first Diwali post marriage.

Harman Baweja
I couldn’t celebrate Deewali since past two years as I was shooting during this festival. But this year since I am not shooting I’ll be able to celebrate it with my family and friends. I love this festive celebration with sweets, beautiful rangolis and crackers.
