Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani – a smashing hit!

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani has marked a great opening at the ticket windows with stupendous response from the audience. Youngsters are flocking in masses to catch the film and that is bringing smile on Rajkumar Santoshi’s face, as the director had almost forgotten what the real taste of success was since his last hit ‘Ghatak’ in the year 1996.

Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif starrer ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ collected a humungous Rs 25 crore approx over its first weekend. Its Sunday collections was a record of sorts as the movie earned Rs 10 crore on a single day, at a par with big hits like Ghajini, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Love Aaj Kal.

According to trade pundits, the film simply shook the box office in all the circuits on its first opening day.

However, the other release of the week Jail failed to click with audience. Though it’s a good movie with stunning performances by the actors Neil Nitin Mukesh and Manoj Bajpai, the first weekend collections of ‘Jail’ were poor. The movie grossed around Rs 4.50 crore approx over its first weekend and did a fair business in Mumbai circuit.

But it is ‘Ajab Prem…’ that is set to become one of the biggest hits of 2009.
